“Passing honors” are those honors, other than gun salutes, rendered on occasions when ships or embarked officials or officers pass, or are passed, close aboard.


Uniform Phraseology:  Basic Uniform Component are uniform items required as part of the basic uniform.  These are the minimum items which must be worn unless the prescribing authority directs otherwise.

An enclosure can prevent a letter from becoming too detailed. Try to keep letters short, down to one page whenever possible, and use enclosures for lengthy explanations that cannot be avoided.
