Provide answers to your Chief before questions are asked and expect answers from your subordinates before you ask questions. Show them how to move forward with this line of thinking.

What does it take to become a Chief Petty Officer?

Aspire to relieve your chief of his job managing the division and model behavior in how he or she supports the commands mission. Once you are successful in doing so you may be on your way. Watch your chief, ask questions, and if you bring a problem bring a solution!

Name one tip you would pass to a First Class Petty Officer?

Never do work to receive a good eval. Strive and work to support the mission, command, department and division when successful, success will find you. Be careful powered with the wrong motivation if it doesn’t work you may have nothing to moving you forward.

What do you expect to gain from mentoring sailors?

As a mentor I want to give to a Sailors hope and empower with the tools needed to succeed. I believe in planting the right seed in the right Sailor. Each Sailor needs are different and as a leader it’s important each Sailor have what they need to move forward. By sharing with Sailors, mentoring online is an opportunity to reach Sailors from all over the world. What do I expect to gain? I expect to show Sailors how to successfully move forward.
